CARDINALS HISTORY

Branch Rickey and Rogers Hornsby get in a cursing match in 1923 over baseball strategy. Later in the year, Hornsby claims he is too ill to play and Rickey gives him a five-day suspension.

Stan Musial goes 4-for-4 in a 1946 game against the Cubs and also has 12 hits in his last 12 at-bats. 

In 1963Stan Musial announces his retirement

The Cardinals purchased Dick Billings from the Texas Rangers in 1974. 

The Oakland Athletics, in 1977,  traded Randy Scarbery to the St. Louis Cardinals for Steve Dunning.

 Cardinals released Ron Mahay in 2011.
