HISTORY

1981- The Cardinals and Padres trade shortstops as Garry Templeton goes to San Diego along with outfielder Sixto Lezcano to San Diego as Ozzie Smith and right-hander Steve Mura head for St. Louis. The trade, however, will not be finalized until Smith’s salary with his new club is determined by an outside arbitrator two months later.

1941–┬áThe Brooklyn Dodgers traded Jack Burman (minors), Kemp Wicker and $7,500 to the St. Louis Cardinals for Don Padgett

1976: The San Francisco Giants traded Ken Reitz to the St. Louis Cardinals for Lynn McGlothen

1979: The New York Mets traded Jody Davis to the St. Louis Cardinals for Ray Searage.

1981: The San Diego Padres traded a player to be named later, Steve Mura and Ozzie Smith to the St. Louis Cardinals for a player to be named later, Sixto Lezcano and Garry Templeton. The San Diego Padres sent Al Olmsted (February 19, 1982) to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade. The St. Louis Cardinals sent Luis DeLeon(February 19, 1982) to the San Diego Padres to complete the trade.

2015–┬áThe St. Louis Cardinals drafted Matthew Bowman from the New York Mets in the 2015 rule 5 draft.
