John “Little Napoleon” McGraw has Successful Managerial Career

McGraw played on the inaugural season of the Cardinals (1900) where he was a third baseman. He continued in baseball as the manager of the New York Giants from 1902-1932 winning ten pennants and three championships.

When he died in 1934 they found a list that he made of all the black players he would have liked to sign but couldn’t. That wouldn’t happen for about another 12 years.
