Steve Evans was a promising outfielder but was a goof-off around the ball park and the New York Giants sold him after two games to the Cardinals in 1908. He knew how to stay in the batters box and had a penchant for getting hit by the ball. In one game, he was hit three times on his way to 31 for the season.
