  • Branch Rickey and Rogers Hornsby get in a cursing match in 1923 over baseball strategy. Later in the year, Hornsby claims he is too ill to play and Rickey gives him a five-day suspension.
  • Stan Musial goes 4-for-4 in a 1946 game against the Cubs and also has 12 hits in his last 12 at-bats. 
  • In 1963Stan Musial announces his retirement
  • The Cardinals purchased Dick Billings from the Texas Rangers in 1974. 
  • The Oakland Athletics, in 1977,  traded Randy Scarbery to the St. Louis Cardinals for Steve Dunning.
  •  Cardinals released Ron Mahay in 2011.
